The Kalgoorlie freighter is being operated between Perth and Kalgoorlie, using EMD locos, Q4006 & Q4013, as it thunders through Bibra Lake.

5th of February 2026, 6:13pm.

The Lime/cement tanks aboard the service were brought in in the early morning on the arrival into Perth Kalgoorlie freighter, and were taken to Cockburn cement sidings in the morning 5194 Standard gauge lime train from Kwinana, to be loaded.The cement tanks were then returned loaded to Kwinana on the 5197 service back to Kwinana, this helped form this outbound Kalgoorlie freighter.

The fuel tankers were also brought into Kwinana yard on 4426 Kalgoorlie freighter in the morning, and were taken up to Kewdale fuel sidings via Forrestfield, they are then loaded throughout the day and returned in the afternoon to form the 025 freighter.They are taken to Kewdale on the 5157 fuel service and returned on the 158 fuel train back to Kwinana.

The excess fuel and AGR brown tank wagons are shunted around to Kwinana beach and the fuel tanks are transferred to the tracks prior to the old Kwinana QAT terminal.And the orange AGR tankers are brought to the sidings visible from Kwinana beach road crossing.1 loco shunts all these wagons around to Kwinana Beach.They are then returned using the Kwinana triangle to proceed into Kwinana yard to also form the 025 service.

And also, the miscellaneous Qube tanks and containers at the rear of the freighter I'm pretty sure just sit at Kwinana yard but I could be wrong as I do not have much information about those wagons and what they do every day.

The locos are travelling in the elephant style configuration on this day.

Often when it comes in on mornings, a UGL C44aci type locomotive like ACB,ACD,ACC leads, but as for the return journey(025), Q class EMD locos seem to be the most common but this can vary.

I am positioned at the Bibra Lake pedestrian crossing, it is located, on the corner of Meller road and Annois road, there you will see a footpath, walk up that, and there is the crossing.Just make sure to be ready as I've been walking up and a train barrels through and I can't get a photo which isn't great.
