Saat mereka siap beralih dari fase nimfa ke fase dewasa, mereka akan bermetamorfosis, mereka akan merangkak keluar dari tanah dengan mata merah yang mencolok. Hinggap di batang atau ranting pohon, lalu molting atau menanggalkan kulit lamanya. Setelah itu mereka akan bernyanyi dengan lantang untuk memanggil pasangannya.
