Air Force One-Half Departs KLVK

Описание к видео Air Force One-Half Departs KLVK

I moved to Livermore in 1980 and Julie Clark had recently taken possession of her Beechcraft T-34 Mentor that she kept hangared there. I immediately recognized Air Force One-Half (a.k.a., Free Spirit) on the ramp as I arrived for our weekly Hot Dog Thursday Airport Open House fundraiser. Oh the memories! I was just a little dweeb pilot among such aviators as Julie, Bob Love, Stu Eberhardt, Jack Hovey, Robert "Bob" Flagg, Don Davis, Candace Harding Murray, etc. Boy do I remember watching her gracefully fly her aerobatic routines. Julie wouldn't have known me from Adam but still came over and greeted me.

Once upon a time kids could ride their bicycles to the airport, wash planes, and possibly be invited to touch the sky. Once upon a time there were air shows. Once upon a time and the times are a changin'.

p.s., I understand Chuck Yeager recently celebrated his 90th birthday -- definitely part of the Golden Age Of Aviation!
