Google to block access to news links in Canada in response to Online News Act

Google says it will remove access to news links in Canada once the federal government implements its controversial Online News Act, formally known as Bill C-18, by the end of the year.

This follows a similar announcement from Meta, who is now terminating a contract with The Canadian Press supporting the hiring of emerging journalists.
