Qolsys IQ Panel 2 Plus: PowerG Overview

Here you will find all of the new features of the Qolsys IQ Panel 2 Plus wireless security & automation system.

Qolsys will continue to still offer the IQ Panel 2 and the IQ Panel 2 plus. The biggest difference between the two panels is the IQ Panel 2 plus's ability to use PowerG wireless encrypted devices, backward compatible versions that work with existing DSC, Interlogix, Honeywell and 2gig Sensors.

Tyco's PowerG sensors and devices have a much better range than all other sensors on the market where a typical security system can get a 300-600 ft nominal range the PowerG devices can get ranges up to 1000ft nominally. If 1000 ft still doesn't work for you can add a PowerG repeater "PG9920" to allow for an additional 1000ft of range. This type of technology is perfect for commercial business, detached sheds/garages, and 10,000 sqft + residential homes.

Qolsys has released 6 different version of the IQ Panel 2 Plus line. They will offer both an ATT or Verizon option. Make sure to select the option that gives you the best cellular signal in your area. These models allow for dual SRF, which basically means that the panel can support more than one wireless security RF frequency. this eliminates the need for a product such as the RE524X.

There will be a Honeywell/2GIG backward compatible panel that can utilize your existing 2GIG or Honeywell wireless sensors minus bi-direction devices such as secondary keypads or wireless sirens:

There is a Qolsys IQ Panel 2 Plus that will support older DSC wireless security sensors. Again, this panel can use your existing sensors minus secondary keypads and or wireless sirens. If you need these additional parts you will need to find the Qolsys compatible versions of secondary keypads and wireless sirens. We will list part numbers below to all of the items talked about today.

The Last IQ Panel 2 Plus version will be able to accommodate existing Qolsys S-Line sensors, Interlogix devices, and the PowerG product line. None of the other panels can support S-Line devices only the Interlogix compatible panel will allow for this.

Both the Older IQ Panel 2 and the IQ Panel 2 Plus will support the new 2.2 firmware update. This is a huge update to the IQ Panel 2 software because it allows for customers to view 1080p Alarm.com IP cameras directly on the 7-inch touchscreen. In addition, there is an option for the Live View so customers with an Alarm.com compatible Skybell can interact with the 2way audio and live view of the Skybell and v522 camera directly on the touchscreen.
