124 Washington stores potentially impacted in Kroger-Albertsons merger

Kroger and Albertsons have identified which stores could be sold in their merger agreement.

The list includes 124 stores — Albertsons, QFC, Safeway and Haggen — in Washington, 62 in Oregon and 579 nationwide that will be sold to C&S Wholesale Grocers. The news does not mean all of the stores on the list will close.

The Federal Trade Commission in February sued to block the proposed merger between Kroger and Albertsons, saying the $24.6 billion deal would eliminate competition and lead to higher prices for millions of Americans.

In addition to QFC and Albertsons, Kroger owns Fred Meyer.
