Simulations, Telehealth, IoT, and Real-time Monitoring - Training the Next Generation of Medical Talent.

New technologies are reinventing how we train our medical teams and are expanding access to medical care to rural populations. Doctors are increasingly interfacing with patients remotely and new tools are making this care more effective with IoT and continuous monitoring to augment telehealth solutions wherever patients are.

This session was lead and developed by Erin Hestir at UC Merced and Tod Stoltz at UC Davis Medical Center.

Speakers:
· Shijia Pan, University of California Merced, Assistant Professor
· Carolynn Patten, UC Davis Health, Director, Biomechanics, Rehabilitation, and Integrative Neuroscience (BRaIN) Lab Co-Director, Center for Neuroengineering and Medicine Professor, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
· Chen-Nee Chuah, University of California, Davis, IEEE Fellow, Child Family Professor in Engineering, Electrical & Computer Engineering

Moderator:
· Erin Hestir, UC Merced, Associate Professor in Civil and Environmental Engineering

Now in its eighth year, the annual EDGE in Tech Symposium highlights the experiences of experts "Advancing Health Tech for All." #HealthTechforAll Panels span telehealth, IoT, medical imaging, sensors, and AI. The symposium was a great introduction to many of the ways technology is changing healthcare and promoting a greater healthspan for all. It also showcased jobs and roles for technologists in health and career paths the speakers took to get there. This event also features the EDGE in Tech Initiative Athena Awards, recognizing those who have championed the advancement of women and people of color in technology.

Thank you to the symposium sponsors and supporters: Siemens, Sandia National Labs, Berkeley Engineering, UC Davis College of Engineering, Baskin School of Engineering at UCSC, Bakar Fellows Program, IoT4Ag at UC Merced, and philanthropist Carla Itzkowich, who made a generous contribution in honor of her father.
