சாரங்காபாணி கோவில் தமிழ்நாட்டின் கும்பகோணத்தில் உள்ள ஒரு இந்து கோவிலாகும், இது இறைவன் விஷ்ணுவுக்கு அர்ப்பணிக்கப்பட்டது. இக்கோவில் வைணவத்தின் படி முக்கியமான 108 திவ்ய தேசங்களில் ஒன்றாகும்.

History in English:

Sarangapani Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu, located in the town of Kumbakonam in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The temple is one of the 108 Divya Desams, which are the important temples of Lord Vishnu according to Vaishnavite tradition.

The history of the Sarangapani Temple dates back to ancient times, and the temple is mentioned in various Hindu scriptures and texts. According to legend, the temple is associated with the sage Hema Rishi, who performed penance on the banks of the Potramarai tank (the temple tank) to obtain the grace of Lord Vishnu. Pleased with the sage's devotion, Lord Vishnu appeared before him and blessed him. The sage then requested Lord Vishnu to stay in the place, and the Lord agreed, taking the form of Sarangapani.

The temple has undergone several renovations and expansions over the centuries. The present structure of the temple is believed to have been built during the reign of the Chola dynasty, which ruled the region between the 9th and 13th centuries. The temple complex is spread over an area of around 630,000 square feet and has a five-tiered gopuram (tower) that is approximately 150 feet tall.

The Sarangapani Temple is known for its unique architecture and beautiful sculptures. The temple has several shrines and mandapams (halls) dedicated to different deities, including Lord Vishnu, Goddess Lakshmi, and Lord Rama. The temple also has a large tank, known as the Potramarai tank, which is considered sacred and is used for religious rituals.
