千里線は、大阪府大阪市北区の天神橋筋六丁目駅から大阪府吹田市の北千里駅までを結ぶ阪急電鉄の鉄道路線。千里丘陵に広がる千里ニュータウンを縦断し、後述の直通運転路線と合わせて大阪市中心部や繁華街を結ぶ通勤・通学路線である。淡路駅をジャンクションとして、終日にわたり京都本線との直通運転が行われている。阪急の支線で、本線と終日にわたって直通運転を行う路線は千里線が唯一である。また、大阪市高速電気軌道 (Osaka Metro) 堺筋線と相互直通運転を行っており、堺筋線の終点駅である天下茶屋駅まで乗り入れている。2021年4月1日に開業100周年を迎えた。

天神橋筋六丁目駅から千里山駅までは戦前に開業した区間で、急曲線や急勾配が続き、運転上のネックとなっている。例えば、豊津駅 - 関大前駅間には35 km/hの制限速度が設定されている。南千里駅 - 千里山駅間には35‰の勾配があり、新型車両を投入するに当たってはこの区間で勾配起動試験を必ず行っている。千里山駅から北千里駅までは、1963年以降に開通した阪急の鉄道路線の中では最も新しい区間であり、直線的な線形で運行速度も速い。また、当該区間はすべて高架線・掘割またはトンネルからなっており、踏切は一つも設置されていない。南千里駅 - 山田駅間には阪急唯一の山岳トンネルである「千里トンネル」があるが、地下鉄と同様の開削工法で建設されたため構造は地下鉄のものと変わらない。

The Senri Line is a railway line of Hankyu Corporation that connects Tenjinbashisuji 6-chome Station in Kita Ward, Osaka City, Osaka Prefecture to Kitasenri Station in Suita City, Osaka Prefecture. It is a commuter/school route that traverses Senri New Town, which spreads over the Senri Hills, and connects the center of Osaka City and the downtown area together with the direct operation route described later. With Awaji Station as a junction, direct operation with the Kyoto Main Line is carried out throughout the day. The Senri Line is the only Hankyu branch line that runs through the main line all day long. In addition, the Osaka Municipal High-speed Electric Tramway (Osaka Metro) Sakaisuji Line and mutual direct operation are carried out, and it runs to Tengachaya Station, the terminal station of the Sakaisuji Line. It will celebrate its 100th anniversary on April 1, 2021.

The section from Tenjimbashisuji 6-chome Station to Senriyama Station was opened before the war, and there are continuous sharp curves and steep slopes, which is a bottleneck for driving. For example, a speed limit of 35 km/h is set between Toyotsu Station and Kandai-mae Station. There is a slope of 35‰ between Minami-Senri Station and Senriyama Station, and a slope start-up test is always carried out in this section when new rolling stock is introduced. The section from Senriyama Station to Kita-Senri Station is the newest section of Hankyu's railway line that opened after 1963, and it has a straight line and fast operating speed. In addition, the sections concerned consist of elevated lines, cuts or tunnels, and there are no railroad crossings. Between Minami-Senri Station and Yamada Station, there is Hankyu's only mountain tunnel, the 'Senri Tunnel'.
