An ancient temple, locked since 1978, was discovered in Sambhal during an anti-encroachment drive near the Shahi Jama Masjid. The temple, housing a Hanuman idol and Shivling, was found by district police and administration. Morning aarti is now being performed at the Bhasmasankar temple. This discovery comes weeks after violence over a court-ordered survey of the Shahi Jama Masjid, which claimed four lives.
