The ibex is a wild mountain goat found in Europe, Asia, and northeast Africa. There are 6 species that live an average of 12 to 15 years in the wild and have large recurved horns, present in both males and females. The nimble ibex is an expert climber due to their concave hooves which provide a suction-cup-like grip on rocky surfaces. They can navigate treacherous mountainous landscapes as they’re able to slowly pick their way up and down steep surfaces.

The agile ibex can live in high, cold altitudes with their thick, coarse coats. They even have the ability to lower their body temperature to withstand extreme cold weather. The surefooted ibex may appear solitary, but they are really social. Their unity is one of their greatest strengths. They naturally form cooperative small herds for companionship and security. During the breeding season, the male bucks engage in fierce competitions, using their horns to establish dominance and to secure mating rights. After mating the female doe gives birth to a single kid after a gestation period of only 6 months.
