Why Malaysia Becomes Hotspot for Semiconductor & Technology Investment in 2024

Описание к видео Why Malaysia Becomes Hotspot for Semiconductor & Technology Investment in 2024

Malaysia has become a investment spot for tech giant since 1970s. Malaysia government put lot of effort in develop Penang as the "Silicone valley of the East". Few local companies are therefore grow and established such as Vitrox, Inari Amertron, Unisem, Globetronics Technology.
However, the downstream industry does not provide high value for Malaysia. "China plus one" idea is formed since the trade-war in between China & USA. Malaysia becomes alternative for many tech-giant, not only from western countries, but also for China.
Malaysia government therefore grabs the opportunities to provide policy and incentives to encourage more foreign direct investment. This is shown by launching KL20 Summit and also creates IC Design Park.
The high demand from the data centres also benefits Johor, where we can see many companies already purchased lands and plan to build their data centres such as Microsoft, Amazon Web Services, Airtrunk and Alibaba Cloud. Johor has a strategic good location where there are nearby to Singapore, but they have cheaper electricity and water supply compared to Singapore.

All the good news succesfully boost up the economics development and increase the employment rate especially in technology industry. We espect Malaysia will definitely improve the whole technology environment and hopefully they can involve more in upstream design in the semi-conductor industry.
