Описание к видео [TALK 10] Advanced Applications of NMR - Jane Wagstaff - Biophysical Techniques Course 2022

Advanced Applications of NMR
Speaker: Jane Wagstaff, MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, UK

The LMB NMR Facility contributes to projects across the full range of research activities at the LMB and is part of an integrated structural biology approach, bridging the gap between biophysical measurements and structural determination. It is a biology driven facility that makes NMR accessible to the non-specialist user.

Facility staff draw on their diverse scientific experience so that all relevant advanced NMR methods can be implemented and adapted to the specific needs of the LMB scientists.

In this video Jane describes the different types of advanced NMR experiments, the limits of sample size and the ideal sample amount and quality. She discusses how different NMR relaxation properties are related to molecular motion and how they can be used to look at interconversion between states or probe rigidity and unstructured regions in proteins. She uses two projects on ubiquitin and the interaction between DEPTOR and mTORC1 to illustrate how NMR can be used in to investigate protein structure and dynamics. In addition, she demonstrated how NMR data can be integrated into cryo-EM structure refinement.

The NMR Facility is headed by Stefan Freund. Read more about the facility here: https://www2.mrc-lmb.cam.ac.uk/resear...

About the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology (LMB):
The LMB is one of the world's leading research institutes. Discoveries and inventions developed at the LMB, for example DNA sequencing and methods to determine the structure of proteins, have revolutionised all areas of biology. Its scientists work to advance understanding of biological processes at the molecular level. This information will help us to understand the workings of complex systems, such as the immune system and the brain, and solve key problems in human health.
