CLASSIC WINTER FASHION FROM MISSONI
The Missoni autumn/winter 2008-2009 menswear fashion show took place on Saturday 12 January at Milan Fashion Week.
The show was the first menswear collection from Angela Missoni who now not only has the task of creating the womenswear but also the menswear collections.
Her brother, Luca Missoni, formerly the creative director of Missoni menswear told AP Entertainment of the recent restructuring:
"This year there are a lot of new things, one thing is in this men's show I'm not following it for the first time and Angela is going to take care of it as we have reorganised a lot of things at our company," he said.
The beauty of yesterday is the classic of tomorrow - seems to be the message of the collection, with slim leg trousers reminiscent of the 1960s, teamed flamboyantly printed shirts and structured cardigans.
Nothing in the collection is rigid, with soft knitwear combined with well tailored shirts. Beige pullovers and shirts with morbid shapes were also a strong feature of the collection.
Jackets and coats had tailor made shoulders that naturally adapted to the body - reinterpreted to create a wardrobe of affection.
Although their autumn/winter collection evoked the style of the 1960s, Missoni creator Rosita Missoni says the fashion world has changed drastically since then:
