Thilaka Randeni reveals a great secret about the elephant in Nadumgamu

Nadungamuwa Vijaya Raja, also referred to as Nadungamuwa Raja, was a prominent and celebrated tame elephant in Sri Lanka. For over a decade, he served as the main casket bearer in the annual Esala procession, a significant religious event held in Kandy to honor the Sacred Tooth Relic of Buddha. Nadungamuwa Raja was one of the largest tame elephants in Asia and was highly regarded throughout the continent during his lifetime. His contributions to the culture and religion of Sri Lanka were so significant that following his passing, the then-president of Sri Lanka, Gotabaya Rajapaksa, declared him a national treasure.
