Should the Raiders Draft a QB? Kay Adams Wonders if Antonio Pierce Would Move Up for Jayden Daniels

And I also want to talk a little Raiders here…because I am fascinated by what they’re going to do in this draft. They of course signed Gardner Minshew this offseason…he’s proven he can win you games in this league and I love Gardner…but there’s still no longer-term plan at QB for Vegas. They passed on moving up from 7 to take one last year…is this new regime going to do the same, stick at 13, and miss out on one of the top quarterbacks again?

Well, yesterday got me thinking about an interesting wrinkle in this.

We know that Antonio Pierce loves Jayden Daniels…he recruited him to Arizona State…he’s raved about him every chance he’s gotten over the past year. If Jayden ends up making it past 2…does that make Pierce and new GM Tom Telesco get aggressive to move up and grab him?

The Commanders taking anyone other than Jayden hadn’t seemed like a realistic possibility early on in this draft process…but there’s been more and more smoke around Washington possibly going in a different direction over the past few weeks. There was the JJ McCarthy talk from Tom Pelissero last week…And now look it this…

I know I said I’m not putting too much stock in the odds on draft prospects – and I’m not – but it’s interesting to see that Drake Maye is now the favorite to be the #2 overall pick on FanDuel Sportsbook for the first time since these draft odds have been out.

It’s no secret that the Patriots are a top candidate to trade back from 3…if Jayden is still there…I think things can get interesting in a hurry…and we could see the Raiders swoop in given that connection with Jayden.

If they don’t make a move there, maybe they go with Penix at 13, or grab a Spencer Rattler later. Whoever the choice is, I’d be stunned if they don’t do *SOMETHING* at the QB spot early in this draft no matter what the mocks and rumors and the Raiders themselves might be telling us right now.
