Solo Bikepacking on the Flint Hills Trail in Kansas

My bikepacking adventure started in Ottawa, KS where I hopped on the Flint Hills Trail and rode west approx 25 miles to Pomona State Park. The Flint Hills Trail is a really great "rail trail" that is still under construction in a few spots, but this section is pretty wonderful. I got super lucky with a beautiful fall day and very little wind on my way out. Pomona Lake is a fantastic place to camp and I basically had the whole park to myself. I'm glad I packed my pole, because the fishing is sweet there! I had a pretty gnarly headwind on the way back to Ottawa the next day, so I just took my time and soaked in this gem of a trail. This was one of the most fun adventures I've done by myself and I can't believe it took me so long to get out there and do, but damn it, I've got too many hobbies! Can't wait to do this again.
