Every summer, Sertã, in central Portugal, is home to the "Festival Gastronómico do Maranho" (i.e. Maranho Food Festival), an event celebrating and promoting its namesake food dish. The maranho consists of a goat's stomach, filled with bits of its meat, cured ham, rice, and usually a lot of fresh mint and parsley. It is boiled, and served cut in slices.
I was in town visiting friends, so it was the perfect time: catching up on conversation, going for a walk and getting to know a new town, and having great food. Couldn't get any better!
