Hi! Tolland I'am Steve Bousquet With American Landscape and Lawn Science
Hello I'am Steve Bousquet the Lawn Science guy with American Landscape and Lawn Science and today I'am talking about moss, moss in the lawn. What should you do about the moss in your Tolland lawn? Leave the moss alone, that right. Moss is Mother Natures way of protecting the soil from erosion. When the lawn is not actively growing moss will help to protect the soil. Moss grows because the conditions are perfect for the moss to thrive, damp, some what shady areas. Do NOt rake all the moss up and plant grass seed, you will only be disappointed when the new grass seed dies off in a moth or so and the moss fills back in next winter. What to do about the moss, Feed the lawn on a regular basis with Organic fertilizer and by late May you not even notice the moss in your lawn. Take a soil test to find out if the lawn needs lime. Many times Moss will grow in soil that has a near perfect PH. Having Moss in the lawn does not mean you need to lime and a soil test will help determine what the soil and lawn needs.
