Anyone who has been involved with drag racing knows a thing or two about the Ford 9". Here in Mopar world, we have an equivalent axle that is of similar design, and nearly as strong - the 8 3/4. One of the greatest aspects of this type of axle design is the drop out center section. This makes quick gear changes a breeze - and if you're fancy, you can keep multiple chunks in the garage to convert your car from street mode to race mode in under an hour. Today, I'm going to up the chooch factor in Casey's 1973 Dodge Challenger with a Suregrip (Chrysler's name for "Positraction") and a 4.30 gear ratio. Along the way, I'll go over some of the important points involved in swapping these center sections.
