CJI Gavai Attack News: Why Advocate Rakesh Kishore Threw Shoe At Chief Justice Of India In SC?

Bar Council of India suspended advocate Rakesh Kishore from practising in any court. This happens after he attempted to hurl a shoe at CJI BR Gavai during court proceedings. The 71-year-old lawyer, removed his sports shoes and tried to throw them towards the bench presided over by CJI. BCI chairperson said the lawyer's conduct was inconsistent with the dignity of court. CJI Gavai, however, remained composed during the disruption, telling the courtroom 'Don't get distracted by all this, we are not distracted, these things don't affect me'. Kishore was swiftly restrained by security personnel as he shouted 'Sanatan ka apman nahi sahenge'. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta called the act 'unfortunate and condemnable'. Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge condemned it as 'unprecedented, shameful, abhorrent'. Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin also condemned the 'shameful act'. Kishore was swiftly restrained by security personnel as he shouted 'Sanatan ka apman nahi sahenge'.
