On November 15, 2018, Billy was admitted to Kennestone for coronary artery bypass surgery to improve blood flow to his heart. On the morning of November 26, 2018, Billy went into cardiac arrest and was pronounced dead. His autopsy revealed an acute myocardial infarction caused by a thrombosis in his bypass graft, the direct result of untreated HIT. Post-mortem testing confirmed the diagnosis, showing HIT at levels nearly nine times the normal threshold.
