What, Why, How?
Due to advances in ultrasound technology and clinical genetics, babies are increasingly being diagnosed with disabilities in utero. Misunderstandings and fear about raising a child with special needs leads many expecting parents to choose abortion. For example, approximately 67% of diagnosed Down syndrome pregnancies in the USA result in elective abortion. Project Heritage aims to use targeted outreach campaigns to find and educate pregnant mothers who have recently received a diagnosis of disability for their unborn child. We aim to educate about disability, reduce the fear of raising a child who is disabled, and encourage and facilitate adoption for those that feel they cannot raise a child with special needs.

Our Mission
Project Heritage is a disability awareness, education, and adoption initiative from the Center for Genomic Interpretation. The Center for Genomic Interpretation's nonprofit mission is to save and improve lives through encouraging careful stewardship of clinical genetics, genomics, and precision medicine.

How Will Donated Funds be Used?
Project Heritage provides completely free services to expecting mothers in need. Therefore funds are used to cover the expense of work provided by licensed and certified genetic counselors, social workers, adoption consultants who are expert in medically complex adoptions, doctoral level genetic variant classification experts, project managers, digital technology experts, and digital outreach professionals and digital services. Some services are donated, and volunteers are used whenever possible. Additionally, printed education materials are generated and distributed to OB-GYNs and midwives at professional conferences and through the mail.

How is Project Heritage Funded?
Donations by individual donors of any amount are gratefully received by the 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, the Center for Genomic Interpretation (CGI), who runs Project Heritage. The Paypal Giving Fund covers all transaction fees for donations made at https://www.paypal.com/US/fundraiser/.... Grants have also been awarded by different organizations to the Center for Genomic Interpretation for Project Heritage.

Is Project Heritage or the Center for Genomic Interpretation engaged in political action for or against abortion?
No. Project Heritage does not work to alter abortion law in the USA.

Is Project Heritage or the Center for Genomic Interpretation a religious organization?
No.
