What will Punjab look like in the future? Who are the young people on the ground actively building solutions? What are their experiences of enacting change? How can Punjabi migrants across Canada, Australia, US & UK be part of the solution?

A recording of the live discussion on 27th August 2020 with young Punjabi leaders, founders, and change-makers across industries who are actively working on the ground. Across arts, education, philanthropy, and the entrepreneurship space these young leaders all share in common a strong bias toward action, bringing ideas to life and creating a strong social and economic impact.

Our young leaders include

Amy Singh, Poet and Educator
Amy is a spoken word poet, an Integral Education facilitator and a TEDx Speaker. She uses poetry as her medium of storytelling, activism, protest and philanthropy to promote positive change and social justice. She runs a street poetry initiative called Cross Connection Poetree, to bring poems out into public spaces and everyday life, as a way of reclaiming public spaces. She’s been featured in India Today, The Tribune & Indian Express.

Daaman Thandi, Co-founder Community of Advocates for Gender and founder of The Lipstick Politico
Daaman is an experienced Campaign Strategy Consultant with a history of working in the social impact sector. She currently works as an advocacy consultant with the Canadian Consulate in Chandigarh where she also founded the Community of Advocates for Gender Empowerment. She has previously worked with the German Marshall Fund in Washington DC and Center for Land Warfare Studies in New Delhi. Daaman is an alumnus of Harvard Kennedy School’s Executive Education program on Leadership, Organizing, and Action, and is a graduate of the University of California, Irvine where she studied Political Science and Conflict Resolution.

Amitoz Singh - Founder SpaceJam Coworking & Incubation
Amitoz is an entrepreneur by heart and best known for establishing and running SpaceJam Coworking/Incubation. He is passionate about sustainable growth and empowering teams with the right resources/solutions gives him enormous gratification. SpaceJam has tapped into a unique opportunity to work closely with startups and strive for excellence each day. He is an alumnus of The Lawrance School Sanawar and San Francisco State University where he studied finance

Simranpreet Singh Oberoi, Co-Founder, Punjab Youth Leaders Program via Sanjhi Sikhiya
Simranpreet aspires to transform Punjab into a land of hope, courage and possibilities through a collective movement. Currently, he is focusing on improving the public education system of Punjab through an intensive two-year leadership program called Punjab Youth Leaders Program (PYLP). He has also set up a collective of organizations which works with the state education department to drive systemic reforms.In the past, he has designed and launched key strategic initiatives as a part of Genpact’s CSR efforts. Genpact is a global professional services firm in the space of business transformation. Simranpreet brings in a lot of passion and commitment for systems change, youth development and education. He is a Young India Fellow from Ashoka University and holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering.

The conversation was facilitated by Daizy Maan, Program Manager at Deakin University’s SPARK Deakin, Founder of Bold Punjab and the Australian Digital Job Accelerator (ADJA). Guest speakers included Svetha Venkatesh and Ajay Bhatia.
