Welcome to the second video in our new EastWest Academy series, our FREE tutorial series that teaches you how to produce music using our award-winning virtual instruments. In this series, we cover every aspect of music production from beginning to end while addressing a lot of the questions that you've had for us on our YouTube and other social media channels in the process.

In this session, we'll be covering some of the general approaches to writing a soundtrack, including thematic scoring, using nontraditional themes that rely more on color and sound design rather than melodies, and of course, textual scoring that doesn't make use of any recurring theme at all. This video is also going to serve as an introduction to orchestration and hybrid composing, but we'll also have videos dedicated entirely to those subjects as well in the future.
