The final stage in story mode is against Bunta's new Impreza on Akina's downhill. Staying ahead of Bunta requires you to drive faster than any other stage before has needed. An S rank requires finishing with an advantage of 50m, which is about 2'49" or so. Finishing even a second later is probably a loss, so you can't afford any significant mistakes.

Having never gone down Akina this fast before, I went into the final corner with too much speed, but thankfully, I was able to cross the finish line before it was able to hurt me too badly. It reminds me of how the final race in the manga ends with a big mistake, but it happens so late that it doesn't change the outcome. Now that Initial D has ended, I'm looking forward to the next game which covers the entire story...
