N. Korean leader inspects Hwasong-17 ICBM test launch, vows firm nuclear response to threats

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un vowed to respond to nuclear threats with his own nuclear weapons.
That's according to the regime's state media.
The KCNA also revealed pictures of Kim's daughter, her first confirmed public appearance.

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un said its regime would respond to threats with nuclear weapons.
According to the state news agency KCNA on Saturday, Kim made the comment while overseeing an intercontinental ballistic missile launch the previous day.
In the report, Kim was quoted as saying that North Korea will firmly react to nuclear threats with the regime's own nuclear weapons and all-out confrontation.
Lashing out at the recent joint military drills between South Korea and the U.S., Kim warned that Seoul and Washington have to realize that military counteractions against the regime would just lead to their self-destruction.
The state news agency also released new images of its latest missile launch, highlighting that the missile had traveled almost 1,000 km at a maximum altitude of 6,040 km.
But the biggest surprise was a picture of Kim's daughter making her first public appearance.
Pictures shared by the state agency show a girl in a white puffer jacket holding Kim's hand as they look at the military hardware.
The KCNA, however, did not name the girl.
Meanwhile, the U.S. has strongly condemned Pyeongyang's ballistic missile launch.
John Kirby, the White House NSC coordinator for strategic communication, expressed deep concerns over the North's ballistic missile program.
He said every time they launch a missile, they learn, whether it be a failure or a partial success.
Kirby said this was concerning as it was a chance for them to improve their program.

In response, the U.S. has called on all countries to fully implement UN Security Council sanctions against Pyeongyang.
