Chalazia (singular: chalazion ) are red bumps that develop on the eyelid when an oil gland becomes blocked.
While antibiotics and hot compresses are typically the first lines of treatment, sometimes they may not completely resolve the chalazion. When that happens, a minor invasive surgical procedure is recommended to remove it completely. However, in the case of a small chalazion, a non-invasive Intralesional Steroid Injection can be performed instead.
Ms. Khushboo, a 32-year-old from New Delhi, developed a chalazion on her right eye's upper eyelid. Despite following the initial treatment protocol of antibiotics and hot compresses for three weeks, the chalazion did not fully resolve.
