How to Restore a Eureka Model Model 1489A Vacuum

The vacuum used in this example is a Eureka Model 1489A from 1988. I believe it was first introduced in 1985.

This uses a 4.8 amp "blender" motor, and I take the entire vacuum apart, thoroughly clean it, re-lubricate it, detail it, then demonstrate it.


"Blender" is just a nickname for the motor type given by fellow collectors, as it has the small armature and the top sleeve bearing motor. Lower amperage and lower RPMs. It resembles the type of motor that would have been used in a blender, hence why it got its nickname.
