A working BGP session teaches you nothing. To truly master BGP, you need to understand exactly why and how it fails.

In Episode 03, we take our working configuration from the previous episode and intentionally sabotage it. We will force the router into the three most common error states: IDLE, ACTIVE, and OPENSENT.

You will learn the difference between a routing failure (Idle) and a TCP failure (Active), and why seeing the word "Active" in your summary is actually a bad sign.

We will simulate real-world failure scenarios:
1. Shutting down an interface to force IDLE.
2. Configuring a "Ghost Neighbor" (Blackhole) to force ACTIVE.
3. Mismatching AS Numbers to force OPENSENT and trigger Notification messages.
