From The Signs Of The Hour
With The Honorable Sheikh Muhammad Bin Salih Al-Uthaymeen - May Allah Have Mercy On His Soul.

Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) said:

The Prophet ﷺ was one day sitting openly with the people when a man came to him and asked:

"What is faith (iman)?"

The Prophet ﷺ replied:
"Faith is to believe in Allah, His angels, His meeting, His messengers, and to believe in resurrection."
He said: "What is Islam?"
The Prophet ﷺ replied:

"Islam is to worship Allah and not associate anything with Him, to establish the prayer, to give the obligatory zakat, and to fast the month of Ramadan."He said: "What is ihsan (excellence)?"
The Prophet ﷺ replied:
"It is to worship Allah as if you see Him, and even if you do not see Him, indeed He sees you."
He said: "When is the Hour (i.e., the Day of Judgment)?"
The Prophet ﷺ replied:
"The one being asked knows no more than the one asking."
Then he said:
"But I will tell you about its signs: when the slave woman gives birth to her mistress, and when the barefoot, naked shepherds compete in constructing tall buildings."
Then the Prophet ﷺ said:
"There are five things that no one knows except Allah."
Then he recited the verse:
{Indeed, Allah [alone] has knowledge of the Hour...} [Qur’an, Luqman 31:34]
Then the man turned and left. The Prophet ﷺ said:
"Bring him back to me."
But they saw nothing.
Then he said:
"That was Jibreel (Gabriel), who came to teach the people their religion."
