Here are some tips to get started reviewing your nitrogen strategy from Pioneer Agronomist William Long:

🌽 What does your corn look like when it starts to dent? Pay attention during the grain fill stage. It should brown from the top up, not the bottom down.

🌽 Review rainfall and precipitation averages.

🌽 Take a look at your yield maps.

🌽 Do a soil nitrate test.

🌽 Try a corn nitrate test.

🌽 When planning, take into account the soil type, and what mother nature is doing. Be flexible.

🌽 Consider split applying nitrogen, so that it's not all subject to one big weather event.

🌽 Utilize nitrogen stabilizers.
