In this video, you’ll learn about the "Proverbs”. इस वीडियो में हम “Lokoktiyan” व्याकरण के बारे में विस्तारपूर्वक जानेंगे। Lokoktiyan, किसी विशेष स्थान पर प्रसिद्ध हो जाने वाले कथन को 'लोकोक्ति' कहते हैं। दूसरे शब्दों में- जब कोई पूरा कथन किसी प्रसंग विशेष में उद्धत किया जाता है तो लोकोक्ति कहलाता है। इसी को कहावत कहते है।

'लोकोक्ति' शब्द 'लोक + उक्ति' शब्दों से मिलकर बना है जिसका अर्थ है- लोक में प्रचलित उक्ति या कथन'। संस्कृत में 'लोकोक्ति' अलंकार का एक भेद भी है तथा सामान्य अर्थ में लोकोक्ति को 'कहावत' कहा जाता है।

लोकोक्ति किसी घटना पर आधारित होती है। इसके प्रयोग में कोई परिवर्तन नहीं होता है। ये भाषा के सौन्दर्य में वृद्धि करती है। लोकोक्ति के पीछे कोई कहानी या घटना होती है। उससे निकली बात बाद में लोगों की जुबान पर जब चल निकलती है, तब 'लोकोक्ति' हो जाती है।
