ICPD30 Global Dialogue on Technology - Tech-facilitated Movements

This session will explore the dual-edged nature of technology in movement building, highlighting how it has empowered communities advocating for gender equality and the realization of rights of marginalized groups, including people with disabilities, while simultaneously enabling the spread of backlash rhetoric. Conversely, the session will delve into the other side, examining how anti-rights communities thrive across the internet, continuing a longstanding war against the legitimacy of human rights, both online and offline. The dialogue aims to equip attendees with a nuanced understanding of technology’s role, as a tool and as an enabler, in building communities and movements which advocate for a fairer, just, more inclusive and gender equal world.
