Pitru Paksha is a 16-day period in the Hindu lunar calendar dedicated to honoring and paying respects to ancestors (Pitrs).
During this time, rituals called Śrāddha and Tarpan are performed to express gratitude to departed souls and seek their blessings.

It is believed that offering food, water, and prayers during Pitru Paksha helps the souls attain peace and ensures prosperity for the family. The rituals are usually performed by the eldest son or male member of the family, though in some traditions women can also perform them.
The period ends with Mahalaya Amavasya, the most significant day to remember and honor all ancestors.
5 rituals to do are -
Lighting a sesame oil lamp in the name of our ancestors.
Feeding crows.
Bestowing black sesame mixed with water in the name of our ancestors.
Offering flowers in the name of ancestors.
Donating to the poor and homeless.
