Shifter Stuck in Park - Mazda 3 (2014-2018)

Your Mazda 3 Gear Shift is stuck in park / shifter is stuck in park and this video will help you get it out of park.

Your car's battery is dead! You have a helpful bystander who can help you jump start your car, but the vehicle is parked in a way where the cables are not long enough to reach your battery!

1. If you have a key fob, then release the physical from inside the Mazda key fob. Press the small notch on the backside of the key fob to release the physical key.
2. Use the key to pry open the small black cover that is right in front of the shifter. Be careful that small cover might pop off.
3. Ensure that you press the brake to keep your Mazda from rolling.
4. Now once the small cover is pried out, you can see a white tab. Use the key to press down on the tab and then you should be able to move the shifter.
5. The moment you take off the key, the shifter is locked again.
6. Don't forget to put the small black cover back in place once you are done.
