Charles Panzéra sings "L'horizon chimérique" Op. 118 by Fauré

Описание к видео Charles Panzéra sings "L'horizon chimérique" Op. 118 by Fauré

The great Swiss baritone, Charles Panzéra, sings Gabriel Fauré's song cycle "L'horizon chimérique" -- the composer's last vocal work -- a cycle of four songs, which he dedicated to Panzéra and no one ever sang them quite like he did! His wife, Magdeleine Panzéra-Baillot, is the pianist. The baritone premiered these songs on May 13, 1922 during a concert for the Société Nationale de Musique. It was a resounding success. A month later he performed the cycle again at the Sorbonne's Grand Amphitheater in the presence of Alexandre Millerand, the President of France. Recorded November 17, 1936.
