El equipo Drag friction mide experimentalmente el torque generado entre un recubrimiento antifouling y el agua de mar a distintas velocidades de movimiento relativo . Los recubrimientos antifouling o anti-incrustantes tienen por objeto evitar las adhesiones de micro y macro organismos en el casco de los barcos para reducir la fricción, el consumo de fuel y las emisiones de CO2 y otros gases a la atmósfera.

The drag friction equipment measures experimentally the torque generated between an antifouling coating and the seawater at different relative speeds. The aim of antifouling coatings is to avoid or reduce the micro and macro organisms adhesions on the vessels surfaces in order to reduce the friction, the fuel consumption and the emissions of CO2 and other contaminant gases emissions to the atmosphere.
