Queen's Redoubt at Pokeno | Aotearoa New Zealand History Walking Tour 4K

Описание к видео Queen's Redoubt at Pokeno | Aotearoa New Zealand History Walking Tour 4K

On this Aotearoa New Zealand history tour we are exploring Queen's Redoubt. The Queen’s Redoubt is located in what was once known as Pokino (now Pokeno) - a site of a Maori village and a place of trade.
The Redoubt represents one of the largest earth-walled fortifications that were built by the British forces during the New Zealand Land Wars. It was constructed just north of the Mangatāwhiri stream, a dividing line between settler Auckland and the land of the Maori King.
It was one of the main bases, and the launching point for the invasion of the Waikato by the British forced.

🔴 In this video series looking at the New Zealand Land Wars, we aim to present the places as they are . We understand that it is not possible to tell the many complex stories of a location with one video, rather we want to make these places available to be visited virtually.

🔴 This is one of the sites of the New Zealand Land Wars Waikato driving tour. For more information about this site, we have collected some resources which can be used to understand more context -
