"While recording the new songs for our album Ting, we did three concerts in our Werf studio. Because of the limited space only 50 people per night were allowed to see the concert. We played and recorded 12 songs. For the 3 sessions we invited Dieuwke Kleijn on cello and Eveline Carels on percussion. It was the first time we played the songs live in front of an audience.
We found this VHS tape again after 28 years and the quality shows the time that is passing by...but we are lucky to have it, thanks to Conno van Wijk who filmed it.
The sixth song is Saint Louis Avenue. Connected to the many memories that we have of Quebec City in Canada where we played the Festival d’été several times. It is the Rue Saint Louis that in the song upgraded to Avenue Saint Louis. Close to the Atomic Café…a time-machine…where in the upstairs saloon I saw Cesária Evora for the first time. A few days later she was sitting in the lobby of the hotel wearing a Nits t-shirt."
