About the artist:
Pepón Osorio is an artist whose projects challenge the stereotypes and misconceptions that shape our view of social institutions and human relationships. His installations layer a multiplicity of objects to fantastically recreate the quotidian environments of real people, stories, and events. Osorio has worked with over 25 communities across the United States and has advanced critical discussion internationally. His work has been shown at many art institutions as well as in storefronts, department stores, and homes. He is the recipient of various honors and awards.

Presented during “Imagining the Social in Artistic and Museum Practices,” Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum on June 22, 2018, a symposium gathering practitioners and scholars of socially engaged art to consider how museums and other organizations can play a role in supporting the field.
