Done at the third round of the FIM CEV Repsol International Championship held in Circuit de Barcelona Catalunya (Spain).
For a third consecutive year Dorna will again run the Asia Talent Team in the 2017 Moto3 Junior World Championship. In 2017 five riders will participate in the Moto3 Junior World Championship with Dorna’s Asia Talent Team:
Somkiat Chantra, winner of the Asia Talent Cup 2016, joins the team. Chantra clinched the title in an exciting final Asia Talent Cup race in Sepang, beating Andi Izdihar and Ai Ogura. Somkiat Chantra is the first Thai rider to hold the Asia Talent Cup title.
Japanese rider Kazuki Masaki will undertake his second season as a member of the Asia Talent Team and will be accompanied by his compatriots Yuki Kunii and Ai Ogura. In the 2016 Asia Talent Cup, Yuki Kunii finished sixth, with two wins and a third place.
Indonesia’s Andi Izdihar will continue to be part of the young rider development outfit of the "Astra Honda Racing Team", which remains as an Asia Talent Team partner. Izdihar was third in the Asia Talent Cup in 2016 with six podiums (three wins, one second and two third places).
Creating a solid team structure with the aim of continuing the development of the best riders to emerge from the Asia Talent Cup is the goal of Dorna’s Asia Talent Team in the FIM CEV Repsol series. The logical step for these young Asian riders is their participation in the Moto3 Junior World Championship. The team, created in 2015, provides the riders with the ideal environment to keep improving their racing skills. The very high level of quality on the starting grid ensures competitive racing for all riders.
In addition, the riders deepen their understanding of the technical aspects of racing while working closely with their mechanics on bike set up.
