Mamdani is in conversation with journalist and writer Marie Brenner, in a session that explores the nature of the nation state, and the path to a reimagined, decolonised future.

Mahmood Mamdani :- is Herbert Lehman Professor of Government at Columbia University. His latest work, Neither Settler Nor Native: The Making and Unmaking of Permanent Minorities, was shortlisted for the British Academy Book Prize for Global Cultural Understanding. Mamdani has been listed among the top ten global intellectuals by the Prospect magazine, UK.

Marie Brenner :- is the author of seven books and a writer at large for Vanity Fair. She has been a staff writer at The New Yorker, a contributing editor at New York, and has won numerous awards for her reporting around the world. Her exposé of the tobacco industry was the basis for the 1999 movie The Insider, which was nominated for seven Academy Awards, including the Best Picture. She is also a producer of the 2019 documentary Where’s My Roy Cohn?
