Too often writers simply resort to murdering their cast of characters. But there is a better way: main your cast members! Grievously injure them! Force them to overcome or to succumb to their wounds. Give them a chance to redefine themselves in light of their injuries. Maiming your characters might just be the best thing you ever did for them!
