Plant species spotlight – Epipremnum amplissimum – long leaf plants
Epipremnum amplissimum is a species of flowering plant in the genus Epipremnum. It is less well known than the ubiquitous Epipremnum aureum varieties (Pothos). Native to Southeast Asia, from New Guinea to Vanuatu including northern Australia

Like the more commonly known Epipremnum aureum it is an evergreen vine typically on a tree as a non-parasitic epiphyte. Unlike the fenestrations of E. pinnatum, this species does not develop dramatically new leaf shapes when climbing, with young foliage having a narrow, spear like shape and then increasing in length and breadth as it grows. The plant is most commonly kept in cultivation in its juvenile state, where it may have bluish grey variegation that disappears with maturity. Mine have always been a bright green colour and it is one of my favourite green foliage aroids.
