Today i went back up to Bristol Airport , mainly to try and capture some of the based Aircraft for the Weston-S-Mare Air Day. I was hoping there would be more overnight on Saturday, but the Red Arrows for example diverted to Exeter because of the Weather. First thing this morning i popped round to the South side of the Airport by The Bristol Flying Center and saw the PBY Catalina parked on the apron.I wanted to take a picture of it , but the Fence was too high and i eventually left it to later as you'll see in the video. Little did i know there were others like The Ex-Omani Strikemaster and a RAF Chinook Helicopter there out of my view. The Weston Air Days was a two Day event, which suffered mixed fortunes on the Saturday with a few cancellations, ie The Battle of Britain Memorial flight etc etc. The Red Arrows only managing a flight past the resort. Today is Fathers Day and also The longest Day of the Year (Summer Solstice) I manage to stay for a mammoth 8 1/2 Hours...compared to my normal 3 !! The Weather started off dull and cloudy and 17 MPH winds...but soon cleared away to a beautiful sunny Day ....but the Wind increased to 26 MPH....this time i nearly fell off the Stepladder....too close for comfort !! So sorry if the footage is shaky , at least you'll understand why !! Footage up to 9:16 is the usual Airlines, Easyjet, Ryannair, Aer Lingus Regional, Thomas Cook, BMI and Thomson. Then the last part of the video are some clips i managed to get of the Aircraft going to display at Weston-S-Mare. Some others were supposed to fly over the Airport ...unfortunately that didn't happen. The Red Arrows flew over the Mendip Hills...also the B17 'Sally B' which i saw from a great distance but couldn't recognise. The Vulcan was also expected to pass here, but we could only look on in the distance as it did it's final display at Weston. Overall a great Day..tinged with what could have made things even better...never mind..some you win...some you lose.
Hope you enjoy the video....Steve.
