Jesus, the righteous One, suffered for sins—not His own, but ours. Scripture says, “The just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God.” From the beginning, God’s purpose in creating man was fellowship, a relationship of love and communion. But sin marred that purpose, for “your sins have separated you from God.” The cross is where Jesus stepped in, taking the penalty of sin upon Himself so that the broken fellowship could be restored. In Him, what sin destroyed, grace rebuilds.
