With the release of every episode fans discuss who’s the most likely to abstract. It’s actually quite possible that nobody will abstract by the end of the show. Let me explain.

When the shows creator gooseworx was asked what the core message of the show was, she said that there’s meaning to be found in a stagnant life. We’re seeing this play out as the show goes on, especially in 6. The characters are also generally getting more content and accustomed to the circus as the episodes go on, the exception obviously being jax.

Goose has also said that abstraction can’t be undone, and that all abstracted people look the same, they lose all their individuality and become unrecognisable.

If a main character abstracted it would go against the premise of the show. Jax is unlikely to abstract because of how complicated his backstory is. It’s far more compelling for him to eventually be redeemed, becoming friends with the rest of the cast.

Added to this caine can’t really abstract since he’s so important to the function of the game. Without him there’s nothing to do.
