Essex Boys, Mike Tony & Denis King - The King Brothers - were television personalities long before they started making records. Their earliest appearance was in 1953 when they were still teenagers - Denis in fact was only 13 years of age at the time. They sang to their own instrumental accompaniment, with Denis at the piano, Mike on guitar and Tony on bass. Their first recordings were for the short-lived Conquest label in 1957, but they were soon signed to Parlophone where they began a run of chart entries, including Top !0 hits with 'A White Sport Coat' and 'Standing On the Corner'. Their countless variety theatre appearances included the London Palladium in 1959 and 1961, and regular spots on TV - such as this performance of the Steve Allen song, more usually associated with Steve Lawrence & Eydie Gorme - 'This Could Be The Start Of Something Big'.
