I Transformed A Heavy Metal Sculpture With Powder Coating!

When I'm not playing video games, I work as a powder coater, which is a fascinating and rewarding job. I have been coating for over 30 years, and during this time, I have had the pleasure of working on many fantastic projects that have allowed me to express my creativity and skill. One of the standout pieces I created is a stunning horse sculpture that I coated in Antique Copper powder. This particular project was quite challenging as it required precision and care, but the end result looked absolutely fantastic. I must say, despite the tricky nature of the painting process, I truly loved every moment of working on this piece. The customer was overwhelmed with the finish, and seeing their reaction made all the hard work worthwhile. It's moments like these that remind me why I love what I do, and I look forward to sharing more of my projects and experiences in the world of powder coating with all of you.

Process:
The sculpture was galvanised after the fabrication and then prepared with a mordant solution(T wash) so the pain adheres to the steelwork.
Then we carefully lifted it with straps onto a frame so we could trolly jack it into the oven safely.
Preheated at 180°C for 35 minutes in an oven painted with a Polyester powder Colour: Antique Copper by Axelta stoved at 180°C for 20 minutes to get the finished result.

What is Galvanisation?
Galvanisation is the process of applying a protective zinc coating to steel or iron, to prevent rusting. The most common method is hot-dip galvanising, in which the parts are coated by submerging them in a bath of hot, molten zinc.
